Workplace Driver Skills

$450pp (minimum six (6) people) we run on dates that suit you, one (1) day course

You must have a drivers license and provide the vehicle to do this course.  This course will prepare you for driving a manual or automatic car on the roads in Darwin and you will learn defensive driving skills for sealed roads.  Learn how to perform an emergency break. 

The Nationally Accredited one (1) day workplace driving course can be done in your private vehicle or your work car, this will ensure the training is relevant to workplace driving conditions.  You can share a car with a maximum of four (4) people per vehicle.  Smart and safe accredited training that will set you and your employees up the challenges of wet season driving.  Train Safe NT was nominated for the AANT Road Safety award.

Can your staff drive a manual car with confidence? Can your employee change flat tyres? Can your staff reverse or park cars with confidence? if no this course will build skills and confidence.

About the course

You must provide a car and have a current drivers license to do the course.  We will teach you how to drive a manual car in a safe and secure location, the training will prepare you for driving a manual or automatic car on Darwin roads.  We were finalist in the AANT Road Safety Award Learn key skills in driving a car with a clutch and gear stick, our workplace street driving course is 70% practical and 30% theory.

What will I learn?

This one (1) day course covers the practical and theory of:

  • Check oil, coolant, brake, clutch, power steering fluid
  • Window washer, battery levels, tools for changing tyres
  • Braking and clutch
  • Reversing and parking
  • Tyre changing
  • Fatigue hazards and solutions
  • Vehicle pre-start check
  • Animal awareness
  • Emergency braking
  • Hazards of high speed driving
  • Minimising vehicle rollovers
  • Employee’s responsibilities under the Workplace Health and Safety Act (duty of care)

The unit of competency is: TLIC1051 Operate a commercial vehicle
